A message from our President
Dear Friends,

It is my distinct honor to serve as the incoming President of the 100 Black Men of America, Tallahassee Area Chapter, an organization deeply committed to uplifting our youth and strengthening our community through our five pillars: mentoring, education, leadership development, economic empowerment, and health and wellness. Each of these pillars shapes our purpose and guides how we design programs, measure success, and refine our chapter’s processes to better serve Tallahassee families and young people.
As we look ahead, one of our primary objectives will be streamlining our organizational structure to ensure clarity, accountability, and sustainability across all of our initiatives. By refining internal processes, strengthening communication, and aligning our programs more closely with measurable outcomes, we will enhance our capacity to serve, from mentoring relationships that change lives to leadership opportunities that expand horizons. In doing so, we remain faithful to the national vision of The 100 while responding directly to the unique needs of our local community.
Reinvigorating mentorship remains central to our efforts. Through stronger collaboration with community partners, schools, faith-based organizations, and local networks, we will expand the reach of our mentoring goals and responsibilities to create more touch points for young people throughout the Tallahassee area. By increasing opportunities for engagement, intentional training, and meaningful one-on-one relationships, we will empower more youth to visualize and pursue their full potential. Community recognition and local coverage have affirmed the transformative impact of our mentorship activities, which strengthen bonds, build confidence, and open doors for tomorrow’s leaders.
At the same time, we are renewing our commitment to strategic fundraising that fuels our programs and expands scholarship opportunities for deserving students. Our signature Black Tie Scholarship Gala, held at Florida State University on May 8, 2026, serves as a cornerstone of this work. By bringing together community partners, members, and supporters in an elegant celebration of achievement and opportunity, we not only raise vital resources, but also honor our promise to young scholars across the Tallahassee area.
I am energized by the possibilities before us. Together, we will build upon the legacy of service that has defined this chapter for more than two decades and increase our impact through sharper focus, deeper collaboration, and unwavering dedication to our youth. The work ahead will strengthen families, develop leaders, and elevate the promise of our community, because when we invest in our young people, we invest in the future of Tallahassee.
